A BROWSE AROUND DECOREX CAPE TOWN 2016

Lauren Graham

Decorex 2016 has come and gone, and although we weren't exhibiting this year, we took a stroll around the stands, and as always there was inspiration for every kind of homeowner. The theme this year was  'Take it Home, Make it Home' and the exhibitors didn't disappoint - we wanted to take it all home!

If you missed out on this year's show, take a look at some of our snaps:

1. WEAVING WAS BACK IN VOGUE

We came across two stands featuring some live weaving action. From handwoven items at Barrydale Weavers to an ancient electric powered weave at Mungo. We loved these woven products, each with a warm and unique texture. We're all about the old school weave!

2. GREENERY EVERYWHERE!

From fresh tulips as part of a larger decor display to hanging plants, the hall was a buzz with loads of fresh plants. Think it's time we added a few more to our home!

3. KITCHEN INSPIRATION

These fold out kitchens caught our eye. A very nifty solution for a small space - loved the ingenuity of this idea.

4. SOMETHING FOR THE BOYS

A man cave competition took place this year with voters eager to give their stamp of approval to the best man cave design! This design was our favourite, mostly because of the creative use of the different materials. Every item on the stand was made from scraps from old ships and nautical related items.

This light is perfect for any man cave because it can be folded up and it fits into a pizza box, just what every man needs!

5. DECOREX HOT SEATS

One of the more eye-catching displays was the Decorex hot seats display. Each chair in the display was designed by a local designer to make up a colourful collection of seating.

7. CERAMICS

Handmade and artisinal ceramics were everywhere. We loved the multiple options of cute and clever designs - always nice to take these home to add something unique to the kitchen. These designs are also perfect to mix and match with what you already have from some eclectic flare.

8. GORGEOUS ART

We found an artist, Devika from Durban, with stunning, different art and bags that she makes with using her artwork.

9. PERSPEX ALL THE WAY

Acryluso had stunning furniture all in perspex that can be incorporated with many different styles. This stand had so many different pieces, we were spoilt for choice.

8. CRAFTY GOODS

The show was packed with loads of crafty goodness, these beautifully designed bowl covers were great! We can just picture them on our outdoor dining table in the summer months.
