8 FABULOUS CALLS ON CURTAINS

Guest User

Your windows are the eyes to your home. They’re that important, and yet we’re often stumped when it comes to giving them the proper window treatment. Here are some great ideas to help you fill your windows with fabulousness.

1. EXTRA WIDE AND EXTRA TALL

SOUTH PACIFIC CAM 7.jpg

Wow! These ceiling-to-floor curtains in Light Years Muslin Quicksilver from Nanette's Interior in Pretoria has just blown us away. The soft muslin of these wide-width sheers drapes so beautifully and elegantly. Just simply wow!

2. SMART SYMMETRY

Nothing says luxe like lots of curtaining. To manage all the folds and keep them smartly in line, choose an eyelet style. Have a look at the Imagination Collection. Both designs, Fantastia’s textured silks and teh more subtle shades of Fabrication’s slub-textured plains create a contemporary look that oozes luxury.

3. WHEN AT HOME DO AS THE ROMANS DO

MALIBU CAM 4.jpg

Roman blinds offer an opportunity to use bold prints without overwhelming a room. Use them as the whole blind or have a plain blind edged with print fabric and then pick up that same print in scatters and accessories around the room, as you see in this scene using fabrics from the Malibu Collection.

4. FULL OR LESS FULL

MEEKO CAM 5.jpg

How full you make your curtains is really a matter of taste, although the general guide is 2,5 times the width of the window space. Busy print fabrics such as this one from the Meeko Collection can show off better with a slightly less full pleat, or have them made up as eyelets.

5. FRINGE BENEFITS

Trims, tassles and tie backs have made a real comeback and look fresh and inspired when combined with up-beat modern prints, such as these from the Malibu Collection.

6. BOLD IS BEAUTIFUL

SOUTH PACIFIC MAIN.jpg

Go all out with large tropical prints in floor-to-ceiling pleated drapes to create a look of wild abundance. Then, to drive the look home, repeat the print in your scatters. Amid the tropical hurricane you’ll find a harmonious oasis. The South Pacific Collection is perfect for this look.

7. READY, STEADY, READYMADE

WHIMSICAL.jpg

There are so many reasons why ready-made curtains are a great option. Top two on the list are budget and instant gratification. The Stuart Graham ready mades are really a cut above the rest as they’re wider than your average at 285cm and of premium quality. For a textured sheer that’s lined for added privacy, have a look at Whimsical, available in eyelet and taped styles in standard and extra length.

8. BLOCK IT ALL OUT

The technology for blockout fabrics has made some advances and and in our Solarline range really is 100% blockout, even in white. It’s available in eyelet or taped styles and smart enough to be used as a stand-alone curtain or as a blockout addition to your existing curtains.
